Buster + Punch London Restoration
An Edwardian-style Mews house in South West London has been emptied and rebuilt with incredible results. Brought to life by Design Studio Buster + Punch, the 4-bed, multi-storey dwelling built vertically around a central wooden staircase has had many of it’s unique historical features lovingly restored.
The once heavily layered interior volume of the house was emptied in favor of a series of double-height spaces, linked together in unique ways that play with perspective and the relationship between solids and voids. By creating many of the dividing walls and balustrades out of glass, Buster + Punch have found a way to both divide and unite each newly renovated space. Your gaze flows uninterrupted through the clear panels into the rooms beyond, creating a sense of openness and space. In spite of mathematics, reducing the quantity of rooms has not compromised the value of the home. Spaces have been designed with the utmost consideration of space economy and will easily accommodate even the most ardent collector.
From a decor perspective, the home is classic, modest and youthful. Dark colors, shades of taupe and classic wood paneling alternate throughout the house, while the stone floors provide the perfect base to decorative carpets and calf skins. A variety of the furnishings and hardware in the home, also designed by Buster + Punch are made out of solid brass and offset the monochromatic palette perfectly. It is the perfect example of a dark interior palette not equating to dark rooms, or morbid spaces. The rooms are romantic, comfortable, sophisticated and modern.
Thanks to Buster + Punch, the home is now brimming with luxe furnishings, modern quirks and beautiful finishes. Not to mention an entirely new lease on life.
